Editing Images - Resize

Before digital photos can be edited or processed, they must first be selected.  Only one Library of images can be selected at a time for processing.

NOTE:  Click any image in this article to enlarge the image OR right-click any image and select "Open Link in New Tab" to view the image full screen.

Mac Users:  CTRL + Click = Right click

There are two distinct ways in which an image can be resized in WinWatermark Professional.  Before photos can be resized, however, they must be imported into the application and selected for processing.

WinWatermarkPro EditImages ResizeFrom the editing window, select an image (blue border) from the Active Batch List (right hand column of pictures).

One way to resize images is to click on the dimensions of an image, from the Active Batch List.  This will open the Resize window overtop the editing window.  The second way to begin resizing pictures is to click the RESIZE button, located across the bottom of the WinWatermark editing window.  Either method will display the Resize window.

As is the case with all pop-up windows in WinWatermark, grab the resulting pop-up window by the title bar and drag it aside to watch the resize changes take place in real time.

The Resize window has several options available.  In the top section, the current image size is shown.  Directly below the Image Size is the Destination Size.  Neither of these two areas can be edited.

All editing must take place in the middle and bottom sections of the resize window.

To resize this image, manually delete the RESIZE WIDTH (red circle) and replace with the desired width.

Leave the checkbox enabled to “Lock image aspect ratio”, which prevents the image from becoming distorted.  In this example, the new width to be used is 800.  Upon entering 800 for the width, the height is automatically populated with 600, thus retaining the proportions of the original image.

WinWatermarkPro EditImages ResizeBy clicking the X in the upper right hand corner of the RESIZE window, a verification pop-up window appears.

Don’t Apply – do not resize the image and return to the editing window

Cancel – cancel & return to Resize window

Apply – apply the resized dimensions to the image.

Many options (dimensions) are pre-set to streamline the process of resizing digital photographs, particularly for Social Networking sites.

To view those new dimensions, click any radio button in the middle section (red rectangle).

For instance, to optimize an image for Facebook, WinWatermark sets the dimensions automatically to 320x240.

For optimal results when framing an image, 640x480 dimensions are pre-set.  By using the Frame Resize Mode, images can then be used with the Frame feature of WinWatermark.

As a radio button is selected, note the change in the Destination Size at the top of the window.

WinWatermarkPro EditImages ResizeThe bottom section of the Resize window is what makes WinWatermark such a powerful application.

Options include:

•  Only current image

•  All same size images as current

•  All images

This option allows hundreds of images to be processed in “batch mode”.  Long gone are the days of editing images one at a time!

After making a selection and click the Apply button.

In this example, all same size images as current were resized to 800x600.

The resize window is closed only when the X, in the upper right hand window, is clicked.  This provides an opportunity to RESTORE the images to their original size.

NOTE:  The Apply button is grayed out; indicating the only option available is RESTORE.

Upon closing the Resize Window, notice the new dimensions for all six images in the Active Batch List.

What happens if you change your mind and want to upload the images to Facebook?

To resize the images, check the radio button desired.  In this example, the FRAME option is selected which resizes images to 640x480.

By selecting All Same Size Images as Current, and clicking the Apply button, you can view those new changes in real time.

Note the new dimensions for all images displayed in the Active Batch List.

By clicking the RESTORE button, all images are restored back to their original dimensions prior to editing.

WinWatermarkPro EditImages ResizeWinWatermark is capable of resizing images one at a time, as shown. Each image can potentially have its own unique set of dimensions.

However, the power behind the resizing feature lies with its ability to process hundreds of images in a matter of seconds.

Resizing images to the same dimensions, in batch mode, is what makes WinWatermark invaluable; saving time in the long run.

One key ingredient in resizing is the option to resize “All Same Size Images as Current”.

By using this option, all landscape-oriented images can be processed at one time. Then, in a second resize process, all portrait-oriented pictures can be processed together. This feature prevents having to keep the two orientations separate when importing them into a Library of images.
