WinWatermark Professional
Editing Photos – Orientation
Action items are at the heart and soul of WinWatermark Professional, including the option to change the Orientation of a digital photo. After a Library of images has been imported into WinWatermark, and pictures have been selected for editing, the editing window is displayed. Across the lower left side, at the bottom of this editing window, are several icons, which are the action items that can be applied to any or all images.
BEST PRACTICE: For best possible results, WinWatermark recommends editing images beginning with the Orientation features and applying the next feature systematically from left to right. After Orientations have been modified, if desired, move on to Effects, Resize, Crop, Frame, Watermark, and finishing with the Rename feature. Fewer issues will arise when applying WinWatermark features in this order.
NOTE: Click any image in this article to enlarge the image OR right-click any image and select "Open Link in New Tab" to view the image full screen.
Mac Users: CTRL + Click = Right click
Five of those action items fall in the ORIENT area (red circle).
NOTE: By hovering over each icon, WinWatermark displays the specific action to be applied.
From left to right, those editing (orientation) options are:
Rotate Fit Actual Size Flip H Flip V
Editing Images – Orientation – Rotate
The first orientation action will rotate the selected image(s). Begin by selecting the picture (right hand column) to be rotated and click the ROTATE icon as shown.
Remember, hover over each icon to view reminder text for each editing action.
ROTATE Options
Several options are available from the rotate image window. Remember, the ROTATE window can be dragged to the side so the resulting images can be easily viewed.
After selections are made, click the APPLY button.
The ROTATE LEFT option will turn the image 90 degrees counterclockwise.
Note the image change in the right hand column of images.
Even though the picture has been edited, the ROTATE window remains, allowing for the RESTORE button to be selected, reverting the current image back to its original setting.
ROTATE Options
In this example, the options selected are:
ROTATE RIGHT and ALL SAME SIZE IMAGES AS CURRENT.
Note the clockwise rotation of the active image, and all images in the right hand column.
Because all selected images are the same size, all are affected by this orientation change.
ROTATE Options
To restore all images back to their original settings, click RESTORE.
NOTE: Restoring images will not close the ROTATE window.
Click the X in the upper right hand corner of the ROTATE window to exit this orientation setting.
Click DON’T APPLY when prompted.
Click CANCEL to return to the ROTATE window.
Editing Images – Orientation – ACTUAL SIZE
ACTUAL SIZE and FIT are much like a toggle switch.
ACTUAL SIZE will display an image in its actual dimensions of 3264 x 2248.
Notice the ACTUAL SIZE button and the scroll bars, which indicate a very large picture is being displayed.
Editing Images – Orientation – FIT
The opposite action for ACTUAL SIZE is the FIT button.
Click the FIT button to revert the image back to the viewing window as shown.
The ACTUAL SIZE and FIT buttons can only be used on a single photo at a time.
Editing Images – Orientation – FLIP H
The last two orientation buttons are FLIP H, which will revolve the image from left to right (vertical axis), and FLIP V which spins the selected picture from top to bottom (horizontal axis).
Pay attention to the current image before flipping. Sometimes a flipped image looks just as good as the original.
NOTE: The rocks are on the left hand side of the image prior to flipping.
After clicking FLIP H, notice the new location of the rocks in this photo.
FLIP H can only be applied to a single image at a time.
To revert back to the original image, click FLIP H again.
Editing Images – Orientation – FLIP V
The last orientation button is the FLIP V button. FLIP V will revolve an image from top to bottom, spinning it along the horizontal axis.
NOTE: The sky is now at the bottom of the image after clicking FLIP V.
