Add a Watermark to Photos to Protect Your Copyright
Examples Included
When selling your photos or artwork online, you probably will be publishing your images on the web or emailing them to someone else. People download digital images from the Internet every day, whether knowingly or not. A simple way to discourage people from stealing your images, and to actually pay for your online works of art, is to add a watermark to your pictures.
WinWatermark allows you to add any kind of watermark to any style of picture, including special symbols such as Copyright ©, Registered ®, or Trademark ™. Additionally, watermarks could include:
Name
Business Name
Company Logo
Website URL
Email Address
Personal Logo
Signature
By including a watermark on your images, you convey to the world that you own the digital images.
Shown below are some examples of watermarks configured using WinWatermark software.
EXAMPLE 1: Add your Company Logo to an image
In the Library , select the images you wish to watermark, then click the Edit icon.
Now that you're in the Edit view, click the image watermark icon.

From the Add Image Watermark window, accept default logo image or browse for your own company logo. Position the logo, from the Alignment Properties, in the lower left-hand corner of the image. Leave all other parameters set to their defaults and click Apply.

The resulting image watermark, which isn’t very large, would look like the image below.

EXAMPLE 2: Add your logo & business name to images
Settings: Manual Mode, Opacity = 4, Rotate = 0; Add Business Name on Photo
In the Library view, select the photos you wish to watermark, then click the Edit icon. Now that you're in the Edit view, click the Image Watermark Icon as shown.

From the Add Image Watermark window, select Manual Mode and configure Opacity to 4. Align the image in the lower left hand corner of the picture. Click Apply.

The image watermark is now in place. To add your Business Name to the watermark, click on the Text watermark icon (T) to create a second watermark for the image.

Add your Business Name in the text box as shown, leaving the font and size at their defaults. Align/position the text watermark in the lower left hand corner and click Apply.

The resulting image, configured with two watermarks, is shown below. Multiple watermarks can be configured for any single image or batch of images to be processed.

EXAMPLE 3: Put your Business Name on images Settings: Manual mode, Opacity = 5, Rotate = 0, Stretch watermarking
In the Library, select the photos you wish to watermark, then click the Edit icon. Now that you're in the Edit view, click the text watermark icon as shown.

From the Add Text Watermark window, enter Business Name in the text box. Change the font size to 48 by clicking on the drop down arrow. Click the drop down for MODE and select stretch. Configure the opacity to 50 and click Apply.

The resulting watermark appears as shown below. Pay special attention to how the STRETCH mode affected the Business Name. Care should be taken to build watermarks that don’t distract from the beauty of the image.

To completely remove the current watermark, click on the X noted below.

By removing the watermark, the current image will also reflect the removal (deletion) of the watermark.

To watermark different images, return to the Library. Click the Clear All icon to clear all selected images. To re-select an image or images to be watermarked, click the picture. An orange border will appear around the images selected to be watermarked.

EXAMPLE 4: Stretch your logo over images
Settings: Stretch mode, Opacity = 50, Rotate = 56, Copyright watermark – font size 48
In the Library, select the images you wish to watermark, then click the Edit icon. From the Edit view, click the image watermark icon.

Using the default logo, click the Mode drop down box and select Stretch. Set the Opacity to 5, rotate the image 56 degrees, and click OK.

Note the logo watermark completely covering the macro image, which distorts the image entirely. In order to add the copyright symbol, click on the text watermark icon to create a second watermark.

Click the EXIF Template button, then click the Circled C, then click OK.

Set the font size to 48 and align the © in the upper left hand corner. Note the reference in the text box. When finished, click Apply.

The final watermarks appear below. Even though the font size was set at 48, the copyright symbol is not very visible. The logo watermark, however, is apparent. Note the two separate watermarks.

To return the image to its original display, simply close (delete) each watermark by clicking on the X in the upper right hand corner.

EXAMPLE 5: Add EXIF information to images
Font size = 48, Lower left hand corner, Yellow font
By definition, EXIF is Exchangeable Image File format, a specification standard used by digital cameras to format each image. WinWatermark makes those specifications available in the watermark tab. Click the text watermark icon to add EXIF information as a watermark.

Change the font size to 48 and the font color to yello. Click the EXIF Template button to add image specification information to your text-based watermark.

From the EXIF information screen, check the boxes to include each piece of image information to the watermark. In this example, the original Name & Extension of the image is selected, along with the Original Width & Height, and two variations of the EXIF Date (date the image was taken).

Note the resulting watermark and especially the syntax used in the text watermark box. By dragging the Add Text Watermark box to the right, the resulting selections can be seen without the need to click OK.

However, by clicking the EXIF Template button a second time, additional options are appended to the current watermark. In order to clear pre-existing EXIF information, the code in the text box should be deleted prior to clicking the EXIF Template button a second time.

Simply click and drag over all code/text in the box and press the Delete key to create new EXIF watermark information.

From the EXIF pop up window, check new desired watermark settings and click OK when finished.

The resulting watermark will appear as shown below.

EXAMPLE 6: Process images in BATCH mode
The best feature of WinWatermark is its ability to process images in batch mode. In other words, all these processes can be performed to several images at the same time. Not only can you crop multiple images, but you can resize, watermark, frame, and rename multiple images in one easy-to-use interface.
To start over, delete any existing watermarks and return to the Library tab. Click the Clear All button to deselect images from a previous project. The Select All button can be clicked to watermark ALL to process all images in the current library.

Once more images have been selected, click the Edit icon. Note the EXIF watermark on all the images at the bottom of the screen.

Select each image to verify the EXIF watermark exists. You have now successfully processed multiple images in batch mode. Keep in mind, not only can you watermark these images, but crop, resize, frame, and rename them as well. If you like the watermark you have been using, click the Process icon (GREEN ARROW) to save your watermark project.

Set the properties as desired, then click Export. You will see that WinWatermark has watermarked all of your photos as a batch.

WinWatermark is the best valued watermark software to help you add watermark to digital images. The software will watermark up to 5000+ pictures at one time.
